Grey’s Anatomy Star Responds To Backlash After Calling Eric Dane ‘Pure Evil’
A Grey’s Anatomy star has broken her silence on the backlash she received after branding Eric Dane as ‘pure evil’ just days after his death.
News of Dane’s death was confirmed on February 20, when his family shared a devastating statement with People.
The message read: “With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon.”
They continued: “He will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he’s received.”

The announcement sent shockwaves through Hollywood and beyond, with admirers across the world expressing grief over the loss of the actor best known for his portrayal of Dr. Mark Sloan.
Tributes quickly flooded social media, where longtime viewers of Grey’s Anatomy and other projects reflected on the impact he had on their lives.
One fan wrote: “Rest in peace, Dr. McSteamy!”
Another shared: “Mr. Eric Dane. Thank you for sharing your craft over the years. Rest In Peace.”
As messages of remembrance continue to pour in, the industry is mourning not just a television star but a performer whose work left a lasting impression on audiences.
Eric Dane’s rise to fame
Born on November 9, 1972, in San Francisco, Dane discovered his passion for performing early in life.
A high school theater production sparked a deeper commitment to acting, motivating him to move to Los Angeles to pursue opportunities in television.
Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Dane steadily built his résumé with appearances on popular shows including Saved by the Bell, Roseanne, and Charmed.
Each role added momentum to his growing career – but a defining moment was just around the corner.

Dane’s breakthrough came in 2006, when he joined Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Mark Sloan, the sharp-witted head of plastic surgery who would earn the fan-favorite nickname ‘McSteamy.’
Originally intended as a one-episode appearance, his character quickly became integral to the series, thanks to his undeniable charm and layered portrayal.
After exiting Grey’s Anatomy, Dane continued to explore complex characters.
He took on the role of Cal Jacobs in Euphoria, diving into a character defined by emotional conflict and turbulent family relationships.
Alongside his television success, he also appeared in major films such as Marley & Me, Valentine’s Day, and Bad Boys: Ride or Die.
Dane’s devastating diagnosis
In April 2025, Dane revealed publicly that he had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurological disorder.
He initially experienced weakness in his right hand and arm, but the condition gradually worsened.
Early signs of ALS can include muscle twitching, cramping, and weakness in the limbs. As the disease advances, it can interfere with speaking, swallowing, and even breathing.
ALS occurs when nerve cells responsible for voluntary muscle control deteriorate. It is the most common type of motor neurone disease (MND), a group of conditions that damage the motor neurons governing movement.

But rather than stepping away from public life, Dane made the decision to speak openly about his diagnosis.
In a statement, his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, shared that he spent his final days surrounded by loved ones, including his daughters, Billie and Georgia.
According to the family, throughout his battle with ALS, Dane became a dedicated advocate for awareness and research, determined to leverage his voice to support others facing the disease.
Grey’s Anatomy star makes damning allegations
In a series of shocking social media posts, a Grey’s Anatomy extra has brutally spoken out about Dane in the days after his death.
Laura Ann Tull has claimed that she is the reason the actor was ‘fired’ from the much-loved medical series.
Writing on Threads, she alleged: “He just died. I only wish he’d apologized & admitted what he did.
“I am why he was fired from Greys. I called Rhimes assistant two weeks before they announced his termination. I doubt they will ever admit that.”

But the commentary didn’t stop there.
Tull added: “He was a coward who abused me. Bullied me. Made fun of me.
“When I had beaten cancer. When I was getting sick with an autoimmune disease.
“His dying doesn’t change destruction he caused me.”
She went as far as to say Dane was ‘pure evil, a bully, and an a-hole’ in her shocking posts.
‘You are a bully’
Tull has since received a barrage of backlash following the unprecedented claims and has responded to the hate.
One fan allegedly message Tull following her claims, writing: “You are the bully and brought this on yourself. You’re absolutely insane. Shame on you for speaking ill of the dead.”
Tull later posted the message on her Instagram, tagging Shondaland, the production company behind Grey’s Anatomy.
In response, the actress said: “@shondaland you people are horrid. So are your fans. I have been getting calls at 8 in morning & I’m betting they are from you.”
Despite claiming she was the reason Dane was ‘fired’ from the medical drama, The Hollywood Reporter alleges that the actor’s 2012 exit from the show was driven by budget and creative decisions.
