Bunnie Xo has revealed the fight that led to Jelly Roll divorcing her in a bombshell tell-all video.
The Dumb Blonde podcast host, whose real name is Alisa DeFord, addressed the split in an emotional tell-all episode released on June 18.
The breakup shocked fans because the couple had long been seen as one of country music’s most devoted and unconventional love stories.
But according to Bunnie, their marriage had been under strain for much longer than people realized.
Their love story began in Las Vegas
Bunnie and Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, first met in 2015 at one of his concerts.
At the time, Jelly Roll was still building his music career, while Bunnie had created her own independent brand and was later open about her past working as an escort and adult entertainer.
The pair quickly became inseparable.
In August 2016, Jelly Roll proposed during a Las Vegas trip, and they tied the knot that same night at a courthouse.
Their marriage became a central part of both of their public images.
Fans watched as Bunnie supported Jelly Roll through career setbacks, legal battles, addiction recovery, and his eventual rise into one of country music’s biggest stars.
Bunnie helped raise Jelly Roll’s children
Throughout their relationship, Bunnie also became a major maternal figure in Jelly Roll’s family.
The singer has two children from previous relationships, daughter Bailee Ann and son Noah Buddy.
Bunnie has often spoken about helping raise Bailee, who is now 18, and the two have shared a close bond publicly over the years.
When news of the divorce broke, Bailee also pushed back at people commenting on the family situation online.
“I am disgusted at how invested everyone is in a very clearly private family matter,” she wrote on TikTok.
“Go on somewhere, y’all. Worry ’bout your house — not mine.”
Their marriage had survived previous struggles
Bunnie and Jelly Roll’s marriage was never presented as perfect.
Both repeatedly described themselves as unconventional and spoke openly about the difficult circumstances they had overcome.
In 2018, the pair briefly separated after Jelly Roll had an affair.
They later reconciled, and Jelly Roll has since publicly admitted to cheating before getting sober from hard drugs.
Despite that, the couple rebuilt their relationship and renewed their vows in 2023.
For years, they appeared to be stronger than ever.
Jelly Roll often credited Bunnie with helping him become the man and artist he is today, while Bunnie described him as her soulmate and best friend.
Divorce filing shocked fans
News broke in June 2026 that Jelly Roll had filed for divorce in Williamson County, Tennessee.
According to court records cited by multiple outlets, the singer filed on May 18 after nearly a decade of marriage.
The filing listed irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
Documents reportedly stated that the couple had separated on May 9.
Jelly Roll also asked the court to approve a marital dissolution agreement allowing for an equitable division of assets and debts.
The pair own property together, including a Tennessee home and a large farm outside Nashville.
After the filing became public, moving trucks were spotted outside their shared residence, though it was not immediately clear whose belongings were being removed.
Fans noticed signs before the announcement
Before the divorce filing was reported, fans had already noticed signs that something might be wrong.
Jelly Roll appeared without his wedding ring during recent public appearances, including while performing at CMA Fest in Nashville.
Some eagle-eyed followers claimed he had not been wearing the ring consistently since earlier in the year.
Bunnie also posted several cryptic social media updates before the news became public.
In one post, she wrote that she was ‘getting her sparkle back.’
In another cheeky video, she walked past trash cans as text on the screen referred to exes ruining a good shot.
She also shared a message about ‘women’s intuition’ when something ‘don’t add up.’
Those posts gained new attention once the divorce was confirmed.
IVF journey put strain on their marriage
In her podcast episode, Bunnie said the couple’s IVF journey played a major role in the emotional pressure they were under.
She revealed that trying to have a baby had been one of the loneliest and hardest experiences of her life.
“My hat goes off to any woman, family, couple who is going through IVF,” she said.
“That is one of the loneliest, darkest journeys you will be on.”
Bunnie said the process “wrecked” her emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
She explained that she became a “shell” of herself while trying to produce enough eggs to make a baby with Jelly Roll.
The couple also suffered devastating losses during the process.
According to Bunnie, they lost four embryos and had three unsuccessful transfers.
“We lost the two twins that we were going to try to have and then we lost the other two,” she said.
“It’s gut-wrenching. It is so heartbreaking.”
Bunnie says Jelly Roll struggled too
Bunnie also revealed that Jelly Roll had his own fertility challenges.
She said he had a low sperm count and was placed on hormones and medication as part of their baby journey.
According to Bunnie, the treatment affected his mood and made him difficult to be around.
She said the hormones turned him into “a freaking nightmare.”
Despite everything, Bunnie insisted the split was not caused by cheating.
“Nobody cheated on the other person,” she said.
“It’s literally just we served our purpose for each other.”
She also said they remain close and still plan to have a baby together.
“We’re going to co-parent together,” Bunnie explained.
“J is my best friend. This isn’t what you guys think this is.”
People reported that Bunnie said they are still planning to welcome a future child and remain committed to co-parenting amicably.
She says they were bad at arguing
According to Bunnie, one of the biggest issues in the marriage was communication.
She said she and Jelly Roll were not good at handling disagreements and often avoided conflict altogether.
“J and I have never really been good at having disagreements,” she said.
“So, we were the type of couple who never argued.”
She explained that both of them would hold things in rather than confront difficult issues.
“He would be holding things in. I would be holding things in, and that’s a recipe for disaster,” she said.
Bunnie said they had once been better at having uncomfortable conversations, but over the last year and a half, they drifted away from that habit as their lives became more complicated.
The fight that ended everything
Bunnie revealed that the argument that triggered the divorce happened on Mother’s Day, Page Six reports.
She said she would not share the exact details of the fight, but admitted she was exhausted, overwhelmed, and emotionally drained.
During the argument, she looked at Jelly Roll and told him: “Well, then file the f—king divorce papers.”
Bunnie explained that in their marriage, divorce was the one thing neither of them was supposed to say during a fight.
“In our relationship, that is the one cardinal thing that you don’t say,” she said.
Although she claimed Jelly Roll had said it before, she said it carried more weight coming from her because she does not usually say things she does not mean.
After the argument, Bunnie packed a bag and left.
She said the pair did not speak for several weeks.
Jelly Roll then did exactly what she had told him to do and filed for divorce on May 18.
Bunnie said the decision was not mutual.
“Was this divorce mutual? No. It was not mutual, even though I told him to file the divorce papers,” she said.
“I was speaking out of anger and just frustration.”
Despite the pain, she said the filing forced them to finally have honest conversations they had avoided for too long.
“It was necessary for us to have a wake-up call,” she said.
And although their marriage is ending, Bunnie made it clear that their bond is not over.
“He is my best friend,” she said. “I love that man more than life itself.”
