Netflix viewers are heaping praise on a ‘massively underrated’ crime drama that features a star-studded cast.
The streaming service boasts some of the best content available to watch in the comfort of your own home.
From Beef which has been hailed as one of the best shows around, to the brutal revenge thriller Bull.
But now people have discovered a crime drama from the 90s that features some of the biggest actors around.
Watch the trailer of the underrated crime drama below…
Cop Land follows Freddy Heffin (Sylvester Stallone), the sheriff of Garrison, New Jersey – the town where the finest New York police officers reside.
However, when a crime involving the NYPD happens in his jurisdiction, he is on a mission to expose those involved with corruption.
Along with Stallone, the cast list is full of A-list actors including Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, Robert Patrick and Edie Falco.
It is also the sophomore effort from director James Mangold, who went on to direct Logan and Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny.

Despite the film receiving largely positive reviews, it underperformed at the box office – grossing $63 million on a budget of $15 million.
However, it has since found new life on Netflix and viewers can’t stop praising it on social media.
One person says: I watched Cop Land on Netflix last night. An underrated film in my opinion.”
Someone else says: “After 15 minutes of scrolling through Amazon and Netflix, I’ve settled on rewatching Cop Land. Great film, Stallone’s best performance by far.”
“Cop Land is on Netflix. Great film, an outstanding cast,” adds a third.
Another pens: “Cop Land is on Netflix right now. This is Stallone’s greatest performance, where he outdoes Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta and a whole host of others.”
Others have praised the film, but have pointed out that at least ‘40%’ of the cast are from The Sopranos.
Speaking to Vulture, Mangold spoke about how the film drastically changed after the Weinsteins bought the rights to his script.
Originally, he wanted his movie to capture the ‘paranoia’ of New York during the 90s – describing the city as a ‘warzone’.
He explained: “[I wanted to] make a film about these communities that were all interconnected, yet at war. I had this idea of a town that would exist and that would be similar to the town I grew up in — only exaggerated to be 100 per cent cops.”

However, he envisioned the lead character in Cop Land to be played by an unknown actor, rather than the man behind iconic characters like Rocky and Rambo.
In Stallone’s defence, however, he did call Mangold the ‘best director’ he had worked with but unfortunately, the movie didn’t benefit his career – with many saying his star power had faded out.
Speaking to Variety in 2019, the Creed star said: “I worked with the best director I ever worked with — James Mangold.
“I loved the film, but it actually worked in reverse. It was pretty good critically, but the fact that it didn’t do a lot of box office, again it fomented the opinion that I had my moment.”
