The Barbie movie has been in development for a long time, having originally been announced back in 2009.
Comedian Amy Schumer originally signed on to play the main role.
At the time, it was reported that she dropped out due to scheduling conflicts while claiming she could no longer ‘commit’ to the project.
However, in a 2022 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Trainwreck star gave further details as to why she dropped out – citing how she wanted her version of the character to be an inventor.
She commented: “The idea that that’s just what every woman must want, right there, I should have gone, ‘You’ve got the wrong gal’.”
