A series has dropped on Netflix and fans are branding it the platform’s ‘best show ever’ and demanding more.

It’s that time of year when we’re so ready to spend hours in front of the TV.

As work winds down for the year, the weather outside becomes more and more miserable, and we’re left with little desire for any more socialising, there’s one place where the majority of us seek solace.

Netflix, of course!

The streaming giant has already blown us away this month with some critically acclaimed anime, some deeply disturbing true crime, and a seriously high-budget apocalyptic thriller.

But the latest drop to hit the platform already has fans demanding a season two, as soon as possible!

My Life with the Walter Boys hit the streaming service on December 7, and since then, it’s gained a cult following with fans of the sweet show.

The story is based on a 2014 novel of the same name by Ali Novak and is a ten-part series.

The official Netflix description reads: “When a tragedy disrupts her life, a teen moves in with her guardian’s big family in a small town and learns new lessons about love, hope and friendship.”

Essentially, we see 15-year-old Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez) forced to move cross country following a family disaster, and finding herself in the middle of a love triangle between the two Walter brothers, Cole (Noah LaLonde) and Alex (Ashby Gentry).

Since first being streamed by viewers, it’s developed a firm fan base, with many heaping praise on the heartwarming drama.

One wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “My Life with the Walter Boys is Netflix’s best show ever and if it doesn’t get renewed for a second season I will riot!”

Another agreed: “My Life with the Walter Boys is so cringe it’s perfect this one is for the Wattpad girlies for real!”

A third added: “Imma have to tune into that My Life with the Walter Boys show ’cause the couple that’s getting all the edits on here are moving me!”

While a fourth controversially opined: “And if I said My Life with the Walter Boys is better than The Summer I Turned Pretty…”

While the show is attracting some criticism for being a little cheesy, a fifth fan pointed out: “I need 14 seasons of My Life with the Walter Boys and I’m so serious, I don’t give a f*** if people think it’s corny or too trope-y. It made my cold dead heart feel something and that is all that matters, period.”

The series has attracted some rather mixed reviews from critics.

Aramide Tinubu writes in Variety: “When series geared at young adults shine, they effortlessly showcase the emotional turmoil of this period where everything suddenly transforms. My Life with the Walter Boys has all the elements, but they never meld to capture the essence of adolescence.”

However, the show still boasts a 7.2 out of 10 rating on IMDb, and a 79% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
