Grimes says that she has changed her and Elon Musk’s daughter’s name.

Grimes, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher, is a Canadian singer-songwriter who is known for songs such as ‘Genesis’ and ‘Oblivion’.

The ‘Nightmusic’ singer, 35, shares two children with Twitter CEO Elon Musk, 51.

The former couple welcomed their first child in May 2020 and originally, they named their son X Æ A-12 (pronounced ‘Ex Ash A Twelve’).

However, the pair were forced to change their child’s name to X Æ A-Xii due to Californian law, which states that names must be written on birth certificates ‘using the 26 alphabetical letters of the English language’.

And now it seems Grimes has once again gone through another name change.

Elon Musk’s ex accidentally revealed their daughter’s name last year during a cover interview with Vanity Fair.

The ‘Shinigami Eyes’ singer shared that the infant was called Exa Dark Sideræl and that it references the supercomputing term exaFLOPS.

She added that Dark symbolises ‘the unknown’ and ‘the beautiful mystery of our universe’.

Originally, Grimes wanted to call their daughter Odysseus Musk but the pair compromised.

However, Exa now goes by the name ‘?’, although the government won’t officially acknowledge this alteration.

Grimes writes on Twitter: “She’s Y now, or ‘Why?’ or just ‘?’ (But the government won’t recognise that). Curiosity, the eternal question… and such.”

It’s believed her daughter’s new name is meant to represent the unknown.

Many people have taken to social media and reacted to the name change.

One person writes: “Y is a nice name. I like the single letter.”

“Baby Y soooooo cute,” another adds.

Somebody else comments: “Our whole existence as humans is a big question mark!!! Really liking this name. Cute.”

However, some people have been left raising their eyebrows and are sharing their thoughts.

“People don’t actually don’t realise their baby is a human,” one person tweets.

“Like why are you playing around with their name like it’s your doll or something lol smh.”

In agreement, another adds: “Exa is so much prettier than ‘Y’.”

While a third person comments: “This is weird, not even funny.”

“That’s gonna be her villain origin story,” somebody else jokes.

X and Y are just two of Musk’s large brood, as he has ten children in total.

Musk and his ex-wife, Canadian author Justine Wilson, welcomed Nevada Alexander in 2002. He tragically passed away at 10 weeks old.

The pair also welcomed twins Griffin and Vivian Musk, 18, through IVF in April 2004.

Vivian now identifies as transgender and dropped her last surname, while also severing ties with her billionaire father.

In 2006, the former couple again used IVF to welcome Kai, Saxon and Damian, who are now 16.

While in November 2021, Musk quietly welcomed twins with Neuralink director of operations and special projects Shivon Zilis, according to court documents obtained by Business Insider.

Their names are not yet known.
