Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat restaurant menu has divided opinions among customers as there is no vegetarian or vegan option.

The eatery, which is located on his farm of the same name, opened in July and since become a talking point due to a number of reasons, such as the price and the limited availability.

However, they do not offer an alternative food option to meat and this has been discussed across social media.

In support of Clarkson’s menu, one user on Twitter said: “How many vegan restaurants offer a meat choice? How many Indian restaurants offer Chinese food? How many fish and chip shops offer lasagne? Why can’t a restaurant owner choose the menu?”

Another posted: “It’s his restaurant so he can serve what he likes. Vegetarians have plenty of other options.”

There were plenty though who opposed the menu, with someone saying on social media: “It’s just common sense to offer veggie and vegan alongside meat and fish. Why would you want to exclude people from your business?”

Another added: “It’s their choice, but if they want to maximise their customer base, then yes. Unlike with meat, there are no religious or moral issues around eating vegetables.”

The restaurant faced difficulty and backlash even before it opened, as it was denied planning permission by the council after locals raised concerns about traffic in the town.

However, through a loophole, Clarkson managed to get his way.

In an interview with The Times, The Grand Tour host revealed: “We happen to have a barn which met every single one of the criteria. You have to prove it’s a viable business. We sent the council an email on Wednesday night and on Thursday it was like something from Challenge Anneka to get it ready.”

Since opening, Diddly Squat restaurant has seen customers travel from all over to eat there, with the eatery being almost fully booked up, despite the controversy that surrounds the menu.
