England’s Lionesses have been denied an open-top bus following their historic Euro 2022 win against Germany.

Although they will be having a victory party at Trafalgar Square, with 7000 people in attendance, fans are disappointed that they will not be able to parade the trophy across London.

On social media, one individual wrote: “They deserve more than that. I’m pretty sure the fellas wouldn’t just get a party in Trafalgar Square. There would be a parade and there should be one for these inspirational women.”

Another fan posted: Why aren’t the #Lionesses getting the open top bus ride through London? If any team has ever deserved the full works, they certainly do.”

Someone else expressed their disappointment with the celebrations by writing: “No bus parade? Wtf! This would have been organised weeks ago if it were the men’s. City get one for winning the Prem, Liverpool for the FA cup, our national women’s team don’t… That’s a real shame

“Shocking your NOT doing a bus parade considering, it’s the Lionesses’ FIRST EVER TROPHY IN 50 YEARS OF THE ENGLAND WOMEN’S TEAM. The WHOLE of England should get to see the ladies with the trophy NOT JUST ON TV.  Please reconsider NOT doing a bus tour with the girls and staff,” a third fumed.

People are disheartened by this decision as other teams have had open top parades through London, such as the England rugby team after their 2003 World Cup victory and the English cricket team after winning The Ashes in 2005.

The party was organised by Greater London Authority (GLA), the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and Westminster Council.

However, at the time of writing, there has not been an explanation as to why the Lionesses have not been granted an open-top bus parade around the city to celebrate their historic Euro 2022 win.
