Troy Beckwith, the actor best known for his role on Neighbours, has sadly died aged 48.

Troy played Michael Martin on Neighbours from 1992 to 1998.

Nicknamed ‘Sicko Micko’, he was one of the most notorious villains in the show’s history.

Ausculture branded the character ‘the Charles Manson of Ramsay Street’, with HecklerSpray writing (via The Independent): “Michael was one of Neighbours’ few convincing bad guys, who probably arbitrarily converted to being good at a later date.”

But tragically, it has now been confirmed that Beckwith has died aged just 48.

Born on 17 November 1975, Beckwith was also known for The Miraculous Mellops (1991), and Blue Heelers (1994).

Troy was also the lead character in the children’s series Pugwall, in which he played the role of keyboard player Jeremy ‘Bazza’ Bazlington.

Aside from his successful acting career, though, Beckwith faced troubles in his personal life.

Back in 2017, Beckwith went missing for weeks, leaving fans and loved ones concerned.

At the time, Sen-Constable Kristen Hill of Cranbourne Police said (per the Mirror): “He’s got his mobile phone, he contacted his partner, saying an appointment had been cancelled and that was the last time she heard from him.”

Thirteen days after being reported missing came the announcement that Beckwith had been found, with Cranbourne Police tweeting at the time: “Great news! Missing 41-year-old Troy Beckwith has been located safe and well. Police would like to thank the public for their assistance.”

Kym Valentine, who played Libby Kennedy in the soap, has now confirmed that Beckwith has passed away.

She posted: “It pains me so much to have to say this. Our dear old friend Troy Beckwith has passed away. Another member of our TV family gone way too soon. Thanks for all the memories my cheeky mate and all my love to your friends and family.”

She confirmed there would be no funeral, as per Beckwith’s wishes.

Brett Blewitt, who is reprising the role of Brett Stark in the soap, wrote: “He was such a lovely person. Deeply thoughtful and empathetic. Cheeky and playful once out of his shell. Way too soon. Love you mate.”

Neighbours casting director Jan Russ posted: “Dear Troy… That is so sad. Gorgeous boy.”

His Pugwall co-star, Ricky Fleming, wrote in tribute: “RIP to my brother from another mother. From birth we were trouble together and joined at the soul, no one will ever know the adventures and joy we had as the mischievous two (tricky and roy) in this life.

“I can honestly say there was never a dull moment when we were together. May you be in peace and still be the infectious joy of those who are in your presence now. Troy Beckwith, love you buddy.”

At the time of writing, Beckwith’s cause of death has yet to be confirmed.
