White House Issues Statement After WWE Star Makes Explosive Claim About Trump’s Assassination Attempt
The White House has issued a response after former professional wrestler and politician Jesse Ventura spoke out on the 2024 assassination attempt on Donald Trump.
The remarks, made during a televised interview, have sparked widespread backlash and reignited debate surrounding one of the most shocking political incidents in recent American history.
Officials were quick to defend the established facts of the case, emphasizing both the human cost of the attack and the extensive federal investigation that followed.
The 2024 assassination attempt
The attempted assassination took place on July 13, 2024, during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. At the time, Trump was addressing supporters when gunfire erupted, sending crowds into chaos and triggering an immediate Secret Service response.
Authorities later confirmed that the shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, had positioned himself on a nearby rooftop armed with an AR-15–style rifle. He fired multiple rounds toward the stage, striking Trump in the ear and injuring two other attendees.
Within seconds, a Secret Service sniper neutralized the threat, killing Crooks at the scene.
Tragically, the incident also claimed the life of Corey Comperatore, a volunteer firefighter who died while shielding his family from the gunfire.
His death quickly became a symbol of courage and sacrifice, with public officials and citizens alike honoring his actions.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro described Comperatore as ‘a hero,’ while his daughter remembered him as ‘the best dad a girl could ever ask for,’ adding that he ‘died a real-life superhero.’
The attack was broadcast across the world and became one of the defining moments of the 2024 election cycle, with many analysts later suggesting it had a significant impact on Trump’s political momentum.

FBI investigation into conspiracy
In the months that followed, the Federal Bureau of Investigation launched one of the most comprehensive investigations in its history.
Agents conducted over 1,000 interviews, examined 13 electronic devices, analyzed more than half a million files, and reviewed 35 digital accounts linked to Crooks. They also traced his weapon, reconstructed the shooting, and investigated potential domestic and international connections.
Despite widespread speculation and online conspiracy theories, the FBI ultimately concluded that Crooks acted alone.
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino addressed public concerns directly, stating:
“There is no cover-up here. We have reviewed this case over and over, looked into every nugget. We have spoken to the families, the president — there is no cover-up here. There is no motive for it, there is no reason for it.”
Investigators also confirmed there was no manifesto, no coordinated plot, and no evidence of foreign involvement.
While Crooks had researched past assassinations and possessed additional ammunition and an undetonated explosive device in his vehicle, authorities found no clear explanation for his actions.
Officials further dismissed theories about a second shooter or ‘phantom rounds,’ emphasizing that every bullet fired had been accounted for.

A political flashpoint
The assassination attempt has remained a deeply polarizing topic. While most officials and investigators agree on the sequence of events, fringe theories have continued to circulate online, fueled in part by the unusual lack of a clear motive.
Some critics have pointed to gaps in understanding Crooks’ psychology or questioned how he was able to access such a vantage point. However, law enforcement agencies have consistently maintained that there is no evidence of a broader conspiracy.
The incident also raised serious questions about security protocols, political violence, and the increasingly volatile nature of public discourse in the United States.
Yet, for many, the focus has remained on the human toll—particularly the death of Comperatore and the trauma experienced by those in attendance.
Jesse Ventura’s controversial claim
It was against this backdrop that Jesse Ventura made his now-viral remarks during an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, hosted by Piers Morgan.
Ventura, a former WWE star turned politician who once served as governor of Minnesota, suggested that the assassination attempt may not have been genuine. Drawing on his background in professional wrestling, he used industry terminology to describe the incident.
He claimed the shooting was akin to a ‘blade job,’ a wrestling technique in which performers deliberately cut themselves to simulate injury and heighten drama.
Morgan reacted with visible surprise, asking: “A blade job? What, you think it was fake?”
Ventura doubled down, pointing to what he described as inconsistencies, particularly the apparent lack of a visible scar on Trump’s ear.
“Come on, Piers, you’re gonna tell me this guy is a hero?” he said.
When Morgan responded affirmatively, Ventura replied: “Well, then he accomplished what he wanted out of you guys.”
The comments quickly drew criticism across political and media circles, with many accusing Ventura of trivializing a deadly event and spreading misinformation.

White House responds with strong words
Following Ventura’s comments, the White House issued a sharply worded statement condemning the claims and reaffirming the reality of what occurred that day, per the Express.
A spokesperson said: “On that tragic day in Butler, Pennsylvania, we tragically lost an American hero, Corey Comperatore, who selflessly laid down his life to protect those around him. President Trump will never forget Corey and his beautiful family.”
The statement continued with a more direct rebuttal to conspiracy theories: “On that dark day, God spared President Trump’s life by a miraculous millimeter. President Trump is standing stronger than ever as he continues to ‘fight, fight, fight’ for the American people. Only a fool would believe otherwise.”
