The Last Kingdom is officially getting a film and if it’s anything like the show it’s going to be incredible.
The TV series first aired on our screens back in 2015 on the BBC before Netflix picked up the rights.
Despite there not being too much hype after its initial release, the show is now getting the recognition it deserves from fans – who say it’s better than Game of Thrones.
On the popular film site Rotten Tomatoes, it has an audience score of 95% while on IMDb it has a rating of 8.5.

Praising the series, one fan wrote: “I have watched the whole thing twice over, it was brilliant. I can honestly say I would watch it again.”
A second viewer said: “This was so much better than Game of Thrones!“
While another wrote: “Absolutely loved this series! Was so sad that it ended!”
“The Last Kingdom is my favourite Netflix show. Its series finale far surpassed Game of Thrones finale!” tweeted a fourth fan.

“Well better than Game Of Thrones. Don’t think there is a bad episode let alone a bad season,” another viewer posted.
Someone else added: “Finished all 5 seasons of The Last Kingdom today. Outstanding.”
The show is told from the perspective of Uhtred of Bebbanburg (Alexander Dreymon), a man born a Saxon and raised a Dane, who struggles with his conflicting loyalties throughout the series.
While The Last Kingdom wrapped up its fifth and final season earlier this year – fans of the hit series still have plenty to look forward to as a new film is coming soon.

The news of the film was announced by Dreymon at London Comic Con last year.

Edward Bazalgette, who directed a number of episodes of the series, will be helming the movie.
Beyond The Last Kingdom, Bazalgette has worked on Poldark, Doctor Who, Versailles, and Netflix’s The Witcher, so viewers should feel that the project is in safe hands.
It’s not clear which cast members will be returning for the movie.
However, this is a list of who might be in it.
Filming for Seven Kings Must Die wrapped in March 2022, however, no release date has officially been confirmed.
However, it is rumoured that it will be dropping at some point in 2023.
There is yet to be a first-look image or trailer, so fans will have to eagerly wait for any update about the film.
