A man has sparked a debate after putting his toilet seat through the dishwasher.
TikTok hacks can either be absolute lifesavers – such as finding out what the curved bit of the hammer is actually for and realising what the hook on the trolley does.
However, others can split opinions and go viral for the wrong reasons.
Now one man has sparked a debate after sharing his life hack.

Social media influencer @alisonkoroly – who often shares tips to make her viewer’s life easier – posted a video of a man removing a toilet seat to clean it.
Usually, you would wipe it down with disinfectant spray and antibacterial wipes.
However, he takes the unusual method of sticking the toilet seat in the dishwasher.
This is the same dishwasher that washes the plates that you eat off and in the video, it already has plates in there.

The 12-second video has 4.5 million views and has caused outrage among some who are absolutely against the idea.
One person comments: “No one is coming to your house for Thanksgiving ever again.”
Someone else adds: “I’d never put that there, where my plates and forks etc. go into. [I don’t care] how clean it gets.”
“I’m never buying a second-hand dishwasher,” jokes a third.
Another user writes: “I don’t care how hot it gets or how much soap is used, that dishwasher is forever tainted.”
“There’s a good reason you never knew that,” slams a fifth.
Someone else comments: “That’s just great, give a whole new meaning to the expression ‘don’t s*** where you eat’.”

However, some people in the comments believe the hack is ‘creative’.
Even experts have weighed in on whether washing your toilet seat in the dishwasher is OK.
Dr Brian Mangum, an associate professor of medicine and epidemiologist at the University of Health Sciences Antigua, tells The Family Handyman: “Consider the fact that your toilet seat is already full of germs.

“You have now potentially transferred those germs to the same dishwasher where you will wash your children’s plates after pizza night.”
Despite the backlash, you’ll be happy to know that the TikTok was intended to be a joke – as confirmed by the couple.
Speaking to the New York Post, Koroloy says: “Our goal is to create entertaining content that people would laugh at and find fun and funny, and lighthearted.”
