An UberEats driver shared a video of himself crying over being tipped just 84p by a customer.
Smithson Michael has gone viral on TikTok after he explained the struggles of working for food delivery companies in the US.
The delivery driver, who refers to himself as @deliveryguy100 on the social media platform, explained in the clip: “I wish people knew what it was like to deliver for UberEats, Postmates, DoorDash, all these companies.
“I just spent an hour driving around for a $1.19 tip. I mean would it hurt y’all to tip us, throw us five dollars?
“I got a $1.19 tip and $2 from the app. What’s that? That’s not even enough to cover gas.
“How am I supposed to live like that?
“Homeless? I’m there. This and I’m sitting here and it’s gone, four months behind. There’s no way I could pay for that.”
He added: “Everything fell apart on me and I haven’t been able to sustain myself, provide for myself and these are essential services.
“I just wish people knew what it was like. I wish they understood what it was like to drive for these services.”

Since the clip has been shared on TikTok, it’s amassed over 1.1million views and thousands have argued how it’s not right when people don’t tip.
One viewer commented: “I always tip and if I can’t, I don’t order.”
Another added: “I feel embarrassed if you don’t tip at least $5.”
However, some people said the ‘outrageous’ costs for ordering food made it difficult to tip as much as they’d like to.
“I get it, I’m so sorry love,” a follower sympathised. “It’s the system though. It’s not the customer’s fault.”
A second said: “If the prices weren’t’ so outrageous, I would tip.”
