Waitress Fired After Receiving $4,400 Tip From Customer
A waitress has been fired after receiving a $4,400 tip from a customer.
Tipping culture is a big part of how employers earn their income in the US.
While it’s not mandatory to tip, it is expected from customers, reports Travel Insider.
Usually, they are expected to tip between 15 and 20 per cent of the total cost – but there is no fixed rate a customer is meant to pay.

Ryan Brandt had been waiting for a table of more than 40 business executives at the Oven & Tap in Arkansas.
She took over from another waiter who went home ill.
Despite this, their guests were clearly impressed and they gave a generous tip of $4,400 to split between the pair.
The moment Brandt was told about her generous tip has been uploaded to Instagram by one of the guests.
The caption reads: “I’m humbled to have been part of something so beautiful and generous. To bless someone else without previously knowing them.”

“I have been blessed, so it is wonderful to pay it forward and bless someone else.
“God bless all who contributed and the servers who received it. I pray it may be multiplied and impact their life for the better.”
The video shows Grant Wise, the host of the dinner, standing with Brandt and handing her a lump sum of cash.
He is heard saying: “Everybody at this table has contributed or tipped $100 for you, and for the other waitress, who unfortunately had to go home because she wasn’t feeling well.
“And then we put it out to our social media channels, and we actually had quite a bit more money sent in.
“So we are tipping you a total of $4,400 for you to split with the other girl that took care of us.”
Brandt was left in tears by the generous tip.
However, her bubble has quickly burst.

In an interview with KNWA news, Brand has revealed that she was told she would be giving the cash to the shift manager and she would only be taking 20 per cent home.
As soon as Wise heard about this, he reportedly asked for the money back, as per Distractify.
They then proceeded to give her cash off the premise.
However, as Brandt re-entered the restaurant – she found out that she had been fired for taking the money.

She tells KNWA news: “It was devastating.
“I borrowed a significant amount for student loans. Most of them were turned off because of the pandemic, but they’re turning back on in January and that’s a harsh reality.”
Wise and his colleagues set up a GoFundMe page for Brandt and subsequently raised over $18,000 for her.
The restaurant has since issued a statement, which states: “After dining, this large group of guests requested that their gratuity be given to two particular servers.
“We fully honoured their request. Out of respect for our highly valued team members, we do not discuss the details surrounding the termination of an employee.”
