A woman has left people divided after explaining why she only showers twice a week.

Stars such as Jake Gyllenhaal, Taylor Swift, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have all admitted to not showering recently.

The Brokeback Mountain star says he finds washing ‘less necessary’ while the ‘Shake It Off’ singer revealed that she doesn’t clean her legs.

While Kutcher and Kunis believe there is ‘no point’ in showering unless they are dirty.

Now a woman is going viral on TikTok after revealing her own shower routine.

TikToker Allison says she only showers twice a week and was surprised to find out that some people shower every day.

She explains to her followers: “So I’ve recently found out that I am in fact a gross human being.

“This is because most girls when they say that they wash their hair twice a week they literally mean wash their hair – and they shower every day.

“I only shower once or twice a week. I’ve gone five days without showering before.”

She continues: “If I’m getting in the shower, I’m going to wash my hair.

“Why would I get in the shower and not wash my hair? But I don’t want to wash my hair every day.

“So I’ve had to start saying that I ‘wash my hair twice a week’ – but I only shower twice a week.”

Allison’s confession – which has been viewed 7.3 million times – has left people on social media divided, with some questioning why she only showers twice.

One user says: “No way you just posted this information about yourself.”

Someone else suggests: “Girl A SHOWER CAP.”

Another person comments: “I legit will not lay in my bed if I’m not showered and in clean clothes.”

While a fourth adds: “Once or twice a week is crazy how are y’all agreeing with this.”

“I get not showering for one or two days but a whole week? There’s no way,” comments someone else.

However, others agree with Allison and are praising her for speaking out about it.

Someone says: “Showering is tiring so yeah totally relate.”

Another adds: “Finally someone said it I’m sorry.”

“I’ve been there and I do it too, if I’m not dirty I’m not showering. If my hair is dirty then I’m showering,” confesses a third.

One person admits: “Yuppp. Showering feels like such a chore.”

A fifth writes: “THANK YOU for talking about this. showering is so exhausting!! How do people do it so much???”

Allison later posted a follow-up video reacting to the comments she’s received.

She tells her followers: “I think it goes to show that this is more common than people think.

“I’m sure there are people who don’t shower and smell, but I don’t smell and I don’t need to wash my hair, so why would I shower?”

She also admits that she bought a shower cap after it was suggested in the comments.

According to WebMD, there’s no ‘one size fits all’ answer to how many times you should shower a week.

“Many doctors say a daily shower is fine for most people,” WebMD says.

“But for many people, two to three times a week is enough and maybe even better to maintain good health.

“It depends on your lifestyle.”
