A woman is leaving people divided after explaining why she only showers twice a week.

Celebrities such as Jake Gyllenhaal, Taylor Swift, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have all previously admitted to not showering.

The Brokeback Mountain star has said he finds washing ‘less necessary’, while the ‘Shake It Off’ singer has revealed that she doesn’t clean her legs.

Meanwhile, Kutcher and Kunis believe there is ‘no point’ in showering unless they’re dirty.

But it’s not just A-listers who are sparking a debate with their hygiene routine, as one woman is going viral after explaining hers.

TikToker Allison says she only showers twice a week, adding she’s been left surprised to find out quite a lot of people shower every day.

Responding to her video, one user says: “No way you just posted this information about yourself.”

Someone else suggests: “Girl, a SHOWER CAP.”

“I legit will not lay in my bed if I’m not showered and in clean clothes,” writes a third.

While a fourth person comments: “I get not showering for one or two days but a whole week? There’s no way.”

Although some people have been left horrified by Allison’s shower routine, others are praising her for speaking out about it.

“Showering is tiring so yeah, totally relate,” relates one TikToker.

A second says: “Finally someone said it, I’m sorry.”

“Yuppp. Showering feels like such a chore,” confesses a third.

Somebody else questions: “THANK YOU for talking about this. Showering is so exhausting!! How do people do it so much???”

In Allison’s viral video, she explains exactly why her showering habits are kept to a minimum.

She explains: “If I’m getting in the shower, I’m going to wash my hair. Why would I get in the shower and not wash my hair? But I don’t want to wash my hair every day.

“So I’ve had to start saying that I ‘wash my hair twice a week’ – but I only shower twice a week.”

Allison continues: “So I’ve recently found out that I am in fact a gross human being.

“This is because most girls when they say that they wash their hair twice a week they literally mean wash their hair – and they shower every day.

“I only shower once or twice a week. I’ve gone five days without showering before.”

The TikToker has also posted a follow-up video in which she’s responded to the comments she’s received.

She tells her followers: “I think it goes to show that this is more common than people think.

“I’m sure there are people who don’t shower and smell, but I don’t smell and I don’t need to wash my hair, so why would I shower?”

However, Allison does admit she’s purchased a shower cap following the suggestions.

According to WebMD, there’s no ‘one size fits all’ answer to how often you should shower a week.

“Many doctors say a daily shower is fine for most people,” the medical news source says. “But for many people, two to three times a week is enough and maybe even better to maintain good health.

“It depends on your lifestyle.”
