A woman has admitted that she doesn’t wash her pyjamas after every wear and it’s left some people horrified.

Allison Delperdang has gone viral on TikTok after asking ‘adults’ what they do with their PJs and it has since sparked a huge debate.

But luckily, laundry experts have now weighed in.

The woman took to the social media platform and revealed that she wears her jammies multiple nights in a row before washing them – but the laundry police are not happy about this.

Delperdang’s clip has since been viewed over a million times, with thousands of people taking to the comments to share their thoughts.

While many people have said they also wear their PJs multiple days in a row, others have said they’ve been left grossed out by the woman’s confession.

“Nope, fresh pair every night,” comments one person.

Another adds: “No because I am wearing them 8+ hours, they just don’t feel clean.”

“Fresh set every night over here… isn’t that what we’re supposed to be doing?” a third questions.

However, the majority of people have taken to the comments and reassured Delperdang that it’s completely normal to wear the same pyjamas multiple nights in a row.

One TikToker says: “I wear everything until it’s dirty or stinky!”

In agreement, a second viewer comments: “Reuse, unless sweaty, dirty, drop food or something.”

“I would never even think to change out of my pyjamas every night,” muses somebody else.

Several people have pointed out that wearing different pyjamas every night isn’t good for the environment – as it means more washing.

“Saving the environment and your clothes! If it’s not dirty/smelly then why wash it? I wear mine for a week in winter!” pens one person.

A second says: “Why wash something if it isn’t actually dirty/smelly? It’s so wasteful in my opinion.”

Showing off her night clothes – which is a onesie – Delperdang says: “I need to know if people wear pyjamas, like, multiple nights in a row.

“I’ve worn these, like, three nights in a row. So I need to know if, like, as adults, we’re still doing that, or should I be literally making dirty clothes every single night.”

Fortunately, many experts have weighed in on the matter and there seems to be a common theme – if you’re particularly sweating in the jammies, it’s probably a good idea to toss them in the laundry basket.

Gwen Whiting, who is co-founder of The Laundress, says (via Real Simple): “When deciding how often to wash your pyjamas, consider how close in contact they have been with your skin and how much you’ve perspired while wearing them.”

While Jennifer Varney, who is the brand manager of Molly Maid, comments: “Unless you spill a midnight snack on them, sweat heavily, or wear them all day long, pyjamas can usually be worn a few nights in a row before they need to be washed.”
