A bride cancelled her wedding after guests refused to pay her the $1,500 she was charging them to attend.

Although weddings are beautiful and romantic, the fact remains – they’re also very expensive.

Many people rely on friends, family, and guests for support when paying for the priciest aspects of their big day.

But one bride took things a step further when she decided she was going to charge her guests a whopping $1,500 to attend her wedding.

And, to make matters worse, when guests refused to pay her hefty fee, she cancelled her wedding.

Taking to social media, the Canadian woman – identified only as Susan – explained her controversial decision.

People have been left jarred after reading what she had to say.

One writes: “This speaks volumes about her. If she loved him and I mean truly loved him, she would have been happy with something small and intimate. She’s a selfish self-absorbed woman who deserves every bit of the pushback she got.”

Another agrees, saying: “When you invite families and friends to a wedding, they come to share the happy event with you, they are not expected to finance the event!”

While a third laughs: “It’s her wedding so she can pay for it, not the guests. Lucky escape for this guy!”

Susan explained that her dream wedding was set to cost around $60,000 – unable to afford this hefty bill, she was expecting guests to step in.

She decided she wanted to split the cost between them and was asking for a $1,500 donation from each of them.

However, many of the wedding guests did not think this was fair.

And when they refused to foot the bill, Susan threw her toys out of the pram…

Susan wrote on Facebook: “Dear friends, it comes with great sadness that I am announcing the cancellation of the wedding. I apologise for cancelling only four days beforehand.

“Unfortunately, [fiancé] and I have broken up due to some recent and irreparable problems. We have decided to end our relationship and not go forth with any future proceedings.

“I specifically, I mean specifically, asked for cash gifts. How could we have our wedding that we dreamed of without proper funding?

“We’d sacrificed so much and only asked each guest for around $1,500. We talked to a few people who even promised us more to make our dream come true.”

Susan continued: “Our request for $1,500 for all other guests was not f***ing out of the ordinary.

“Like, we made it clear. If you couldn’t contribute, you weren’t invited to our exclusive wedding. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime party.”

Susan revealed that after she became overwhelmed with the costs, her fiancé suggested a cheap elopement instead.

She concluded: “I laughed in his face, but he was dead serious. He wanted those cheap, filthy, w****-like Vegas weddings. I mean WHAT the f***?? Was he out of his mind?”

“My ex left the room and didn’t apologise for his horrid suggestion. I then called my maid of honour and cried my eyes out. Instead of sympathy, I was told that I was asking for way too much and I should stick to the budget.

“How could someone who offered me thousands of dollars then deny me my promised money and then tell me to shift down my budget? She knows my f***ing dream was a blowout wedding.

“I just wanted to be a Kardashian for a day and then live my life like normal. I called her a filthy f***ing poor excuse of a friend, and hung up.”
