Netflix viewers are only just discovering a series from a decade ago – which they are dubbing ‘the best show’ on the streaming service.

The platform is known for picking up old and cancelled TV series and turning them into huge hits.

Manifest was cancelled by NBC in 2021 before Netflix brought the rights and commissioned a fourth season – turning it into the most-watched show in the world.

While The Last Kingdom was originally distributed on the BBC until the streaming giant began airing it on its services.

Not viewers can’t get enough of a programme that aired 10 years ago.

Suits is a legal drama series that follows a college dropout who has a photographic memory and manages to talk himself into a job at a successful law firm.

The cast features Michael J. Adams (DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow), Gabriel Macht (S.W.A.T: Firefight) and none other than the Duchess Of Sussex herself, Meghan Markle.

The programme first aired in 2011 and has an overall score of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes – with seasons four, five, six and eight having an impressive 100% score on the film ranking sight.

The final season aired in 2019 and has recently dropped on Netflix and has been a huge smash.

According to Deadline, in one week Suits was watched by almost 3.7 billion minutes in just the States alone.

This set the record for the most-watched, non-original show on a streaming service ever.

What is even more impressive about this report is that Deadline indicates that these figures only come from the early seasons of the show – so there is a good chance that the number will go up.

The Washington Post has looked into where this newfound popularity of Suits has come from.

The publisher speculates: “A variety of factors, including its stars, its episodes and the organic growth it has seen through social media.

“The hashtag #SuitsOnNetflix is trending on X, the site formerly known as Twitter.

“Fans are pointing out their favourite moments, and TikTokers have posted videos of people reenacting and parodying scenes.”
