The Last Kingdom is a period drama set during the 9th century in Anglo-Saxon England.
It is told from the perspective of Uhtred of Bebbanburg (Alexander Dreymon), a man born a Saxon and raised a Dane, who struggles with his conflicting loyalties throughout the series.
Originally, the TV series aired back in 2015 on BBC, having been co-produced by the BBC and BBC America.
However, due to poor viewing figures in the States, BBC America cut ties with the show and let Netflix take over the rights.
