A Mexican TV star is reportedly on the run from her home country after being accused of embezzling $146million.

Inés Gómez Mont, who once famously proposed to American footballer Tom Brady, has vanished with her husband, Víctor Manuel Álvarez Puga.

A former employee of Mont reportedly told TV Notas they were ‘up to their necks’ in accusations of financial fraud between 2016 and 2017 and fleed before a warrant was issued for their arrest.

Several Mexican news outlets have reported that the high-profile pair have homes in the US, so they could possibly be ‘hiding’ there.

According to Animal Politico, Mexican authorities consider the couple as fugitives because intelligence suggests they had been out of Mexico for ‘months.’

It’s also been reported that the Attorney General in Mexico has asked Interpol to issue an international arrest warrant against the couple.

In a post on Instagram on September 11, Mont told her two million followers that she had ‘not known about the arrest warrant’ ahead of it being issued and denied the accusations of embezzlement against her and her husband.

She thanked fans for sending support at ‘this sad and painful situation’ and said she and her husband were ‘preparing to face this process and exercise all their rights.’

She also hit out at the media for reporting on the issue.

According to Animal Politico, if Mont and Puga are arrested and convicted in Mexico on these charges, they could face a prison sentence of 20-60 years.
