Mum Discovers Adopted Children Are Actually Siblings

A single mum was left gobsmacked when she discovered that the two children she had adopted were actually siblings. 

Katie Page, from Colorado, decided to foster children after she received an email from her local church.

Describing the life-changing moment, she took to LoveWhatMatters and said the decision ‘pulled at my heart’.

She wrote: “What I heard that evening about foster care gave me chills and scared me, but it also pulled at my heart in a way I couldn’t stop thinking about it.”

After completing the necessary applications, Page was then asked if she could take in a four-day-old boy.

The newborn, who hadn’t been named, had reportedly been left abandoned at the hospital.

When the American took him home, she decided to name the infant Grayson and give him the best care. All the while, she tried to find his biological parents.

Despite putting an ad in the newspaper, she heard nothing back.

So when 11 months had passed, Page decided to adopt Grayson.

But a short while after, the single mum was informed by her caseworker that there was another four-day-old baby in need of a foster home.

This baby girl had been abandoned at the same hospital as Page’s first child and although she hadn’t planned on taking on more kids, something told her it was the right decision to make.

Recalling the time, she said: “Something was different about this one. I know over the next 10 minutes and subsequent phone calls I made that afternoon, the phrase ‘I know I am crazy but God is telling me to say YES’ kept coming out of my mouth.”

When the baby girl arrived at her home, Page quickly realised that there were far too many similarities between the newborn and her son.

The mum had checked the baby’s hospital bracelet on arrival and found the surname matched the name of Grayson’s biological mother.

Also, the discharge papers revealed that their mothers shared the same birth date.

Wanting to know if it was possible, Page got in contact with her caseworker but they reportedly said it was extremely unlikely.

Still, the American wanted to know for herself, so she managed to track the baby girl’s mother.

The woman, who turned out to be pregnant once again, admitted that she had previously carried a baby boy that hadn’t been registered.

Plus, Page could see that Grayson looked very much like the woman.

Sometime later, the mum met with her caseworker and her son’s potential biological mother.

It was then that the truth came out.

“Katie, I think you’re right,” the caseworker told Page. “Her story breaks my heart and I can’t believe it but I am 90% sure you’re right and this is a miracle.”

The single mum couldn’t believe it, but as the two kids were like ‘partners in crime,’ it all made sense.

Amazingly, more exciting news was to come for her.

It turned out Grayson’s biological mother had given birth to another son and now Page is fostering him too.

She plans to adopt all three of the children so they can have their happily ever after!
