Richard Madeley’s Rev Richard Coles ‘Grief’ Comments Slammed

Richard Madeley has been slammed by Good Morning Britain viewers due to comments he made while Rev Richard Coles discussed the subject of grief.

Rev Coles was on the show chatting about his upcoming Channel 4 documentary, which explores the process of what happens after you lose someone you love, and talking about his own personal experience, as his partner died in 2019.

However, much to their annoyance, viewers noticed that Madeley kept bringing the conversation back to him and talking about what he has gone through.

Reacting on social media, one fan commented: “Get Madeley off he just goes on about himself and his family.”

Another viewer posted: “Me me me. Get this total self-obsessed a*** told to STOP INTERRUPTING GUESTS. Teach him he is there to interview and respect the guests and to stop rudely interrupting them.”

“He’s so irritating. Found it so annoying that he decided to basically tell his own story instead,” a third penned. 

During the interview, Madeley recounted how he lost his dad when he was 21 and described how the grieving period lifted in ‘jolts’.

He also recalled that it took about a year for him to completely stop mourning his father.

Despite facing backlash, some viewers lept to Madeley’s defence and praised him for being so open.

One fan commented: “Not a fan of Madeley however you’re overthinking that section. His expertise was in context with the dialogue and it was nothing incorrect to say – ‘That is how I received over it, was it the identical for you?’. In any other case, he can sit there and easily nod!”

The presenter has been in the news recently due to the way he conducted his interviews with the England Lionesses after their historic Euro 2022 win.

When he interviewed Alessia Russo, Madeley faced backlash for addressing her as ‘love’.
