People online are calling for Sandra Bullock to lose her Oscar award.

The Heat actress, 59, has been starring in films since the 1980s, having been involved in hit movies such as A Time To Kill, The Proposal and Birdbox.

She is also a two-time Academy Award nominee, having earnt a nomination for Gravity and another one for The Blind Side – which she went on to win.

However, there is some noise calling for Bullock to have her Oscar stripped.

The film is based on the true story of Michael Oher, a former NFL offensive lineman who had a tough upbringing – including being in and out of foster homes and even finding himself homeless.

He was eventually adopted by Leigh Anne Tuohy (played by Bullock) and her husband, Sean, who became his legal guardians and helped transform his life, both as an athlete and as a student.

Oher went on to play eight seasons in the NFL after being drafted in 2009 and won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens.

But Oher, who is now 37, has now filed a lawsuit in a Tennessee court against the couple, claiming that he was never actually adopted and was instead tricked into a conservatorship.

He also alleges that the Tuohy’s made millions from him.

According to Oher’s petition filed (via BBC News), the couple took full control over his ‘ability to negotiate for or enter any contract, despite the fact he was over 18 years of age and had no diagnosed physical or psychological disabilities’.

The lawsuit continues: “Michael Oher discovered this lie to his chagrin and embarrassment in February of 2023 when he learned that the Conservatorship to which he consented on the basis that doing so would make him a member of the Tuohy family, in fact, provided him no familial relationship with the Tuohys.”

The suit also mentions that the Tuohys signed a movie deal for the rights to Oher’s story for $225,000 plus 2.5 per cent of all future proceeds,

However, the former NFL player ‘at no time ever willingly or knowingly signed this document’ and received nothing from the movie – with The Blind Side earning over $300 million at the box office.

Even though Bullock played Leigh Anne in the film, there has been no evidence of her knowing anything about the conservatorship and the documents that the family signed in regard to the movie.

Despite this, some people have called for Bullock to have her Oscar removed in light of the situation.

One person writes: “If the Michael Oher allegations are true then we have to go AND TAKE THE OSCAR back from Sandra Bullock and give it to Gabourey Sidibe for Precious.”

Someone else pens: “Sandra Bullock should give her Oscar back. She knows she didn’t deserve that s***.”

“Sandra Bullock gonna have to give back her Oscar for this one,” adds a third.

However, others have defended the Demolition Man star.

Someone explains: “Folks wanting Sandra Bullock to lose her Oscar for something she wasn’t a part of is just crazy.

“That woman was doing what she got paid to do, acting. They gave her a script and that’s it. Please get a grip.”

“Not y’all calling for Sandra Bullock’s Oscar to be revoked,” defends another fan.

“It ain’t her fault the real-life people were exploitative scammers and thieves.”

A third person comments: “But that had nothing to do with her! She was just doing her job playing a role. That family must answer for what they took and didn’t share.”
