Tom Hanks has revealed he turned down an offer to fly on Jeff Bezo’s rocket to space because it came with a price tag of $28million.
The actor was asked whether rumours that he received the offer, which Star Trek’s William Shatner ended up accepting, were true on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The 65-year-old responded: “It cost $28million bucks or something like that. I’m doing good, Jimmy, I’m doing good. But I ain’t paying $28[million] bucks.”

Shatner recently made headlines when it was revealed he had gone to space in the Amazon tycoon’s rocket and spent three minutes there with astronauts Chris Boshuizen, Glen de Vries, and Audrey Powers.
When he returned, the actor said it was something ‘everyone in the world’ should do.
He said: “Everybody in the world needs to do this. To see the blue colour whip by and now you’re staring into [the] blackness, that’s the thing.
“The covering of blue, this sheath, this blanket, this comforter of blue that we have around, we say, ‘Oh, that’s blue sky’. And then suddenly you shoot through it all, and you’re looking into blackness, into black ugliness.”

He then broke down in tears and told Bezos he hoped he would ‘never recover’ from the experience.
He said: “I’m so filled with emotion with what just happened. I hope I never recover from this.”
