A woman was left upset after she received a cruel, fat-shaming message on a dating app.

Florence Simpson, who is a social media influencer, matched with a guy on Bumble and decided she’d ask him a question to get the conversation going.

The 21-year-old said: “Okay, picture this. You’re off to big Tesco and ask if I want anything. I say ‘surprise me’. What are you bringing home?”

However, the woman’s match then responded by saying: “Slimfast.”

Shocked by the uncalled-for comment, Simpson simply replied back: “Lovely.”

Instead of letting the message get her upset, she decided to call out the guy’s behaviour on social media.

Alongside a screenshot of the brief conversation, the influencer took to Twitter and wrote: “Don’t you just love men.

“No judging my opening question okay it normally gets hilarious responses!”

Later on, she then added: “I would like to reiterate as some people don’t seem to understand. I do not care if he doesn’t find my body type attractive. I care that he consciously chose to match with me just to be rude to me.”

So far, Simpson’s post has accumulated over 29,000 likes and 800 retweets, as people were left outraged by the guy’s unnecessary response.

“Will always infuriate me seeing how some men and women have the audacity to speak with such disrespect to others, unprovoked. Hope this doesn’t change the love you have for yourself, as long as you’re happy within yourself then that’s all the beauty you need,” one Twitter user replied.

Another added: “Absolutely fantastic opening line. Grotesque and pathetic response.”

But others revealed that they had experienced very similar situations when on dating apps.

A person commented: “I matched with a guy, started chatting. He asked me to go for a coffee and then made a fat joke about me to my face. As if he didn’t know what I looked like when he asked me out. It’s honestly baffling.”
