Nickelodeon teen actress Sissy Sheridan shared a video of herself onto TikTok when she suffered a ‘freak accident’ when she discovered that her face mask had been pierced into her ear alongside the earrings she’d chosen from Claire’s.
The 16-year-old actor, who appears on Nickelodean’s web series DIY With Me, shared a video of herself crying hysterically onto TikTok, as she was horrified to find that her mask had been pierced into her ear.
The actress, who is TikTok famous with over three million followers, had been to get her ears pierced at a Claire’s store near her home in Sterling, Virginia when the accident happened.
She told BuzzFeed News that she had been accompanied by her mum and close friend when she went to get a third ear piercing put into each lobe on Monday.
However, the star realised on her way home as she got into the car that the piercing had not gone as planned. When she attempted to remove her mask, she found that the mask was stuck to her ears. She claims that it had been accidentally pierced when she was getting her ears done and having new earrings put in.
Sissy was then left with no choice but to leave the mask on as it dangled from her ears. Once she got home, her mum Leisa managed to cut most of it away by folding her ears forward.
The teenager shared a video of her hysterical reaction onto TikTok, where she can be heard saying: “I just got my ears pierced and she pierced it on my mask.
“I can’t get it off and it hurts so bad. I hate Claire’s. Look at it the white one, it’s stuck in my ear.
“And they look so ugly I just want to take them out. Look at it. She pierced it on my mask.”

Before Sissy discovered the mishap, she had recorded herself seeming completely fine as she was having the piercing done.
She posted the clip of her having the piercing done after her face mask error video, in which you can see Sissy as she sits in a chair whilst a Claire’s employee holds the piercing gun to one ear and then the other, giving her a third set of holes.
After she had the first piercing, Sissy requested that they pause for a moment – she later noted that this was the ear which had the mask attached – she said it had really hurt her.
However, she didn’t call out or cry so the employee continued to pierce her other ear.
For the occasion, she stated that she wore two face masks, a black cloth one and a surgical one, as she was aware the employee would have to be particularly close to her.

Despite it hurting her later on, she admitted that she had no idea it had happened at first.
She said: “I had no idea. I’m just sitting in the chair. I didn’t feel anything. There was no sign the mask had been punctured in the ear.”
It is unclear how the accident happened, as she claimed a part of the mask strap had ended up inside her ear, especially as the piercing would have made from the front to the back of the ear, whilst the mask appeared stuck at the back of her ear.
Sissy has stated that her mum has sent photos of the “negligent” job of her daughter’s ear to the manager of the Claire’s store – they were hoping to receive a refund.
However, Leisa has commented that the store has refused to give a refund of the $73 ear piercing, as she will need to return the earrings. The earrings are still in Sissy’s ears and if they are returned, they will be destroyed.
Carmen Sandy, manager of the store, told BuzzFeed: “She needs to bring the earring back and come into the store. I’ll replace it for her [with] a full earring, but she didn’t want to hear it. If she’s unhappy, she needs to call corporate.”
Sissy has recently updated her fans and explained that although her mum managed to remove the majority of the mask, there’s still some remaining inside the ear itself after it was forced through when pierced.
She informed her followers: “Basically the mask is gone out of my ear, but there’s still a piece of the plastic string stuck in my ear. When it got pierced it got pierced inside my ear.
“My ears are too sore and sensitive right now because they just got a hole pierced through them, to take the earring out. And also if I take the earring out it could close up.
She added: “Sorry for being dramatic but I had no idea what to do and it really hurt so that was my reaction. I was crazy I was like aaaahhh.”

The actress believes that whilst masks are mandatory in the state of Virginia, piercings should be stopped for safety reasons. She has commented that she does not want the employee being blamed for the accident.
Claire’s told the MailOnline: “Over 40 years, Claire’s has pierced more than 100 million ears. Customer well-being is always our main priority.
“We are investigating this incident and are taking appropriate corrective action. We have reached out to the customer offering support and a full refund, and have updated our ear piercing training guidelines to incorporate mask-wearing.”
