A woman says her upside-down pineapple tattoo was a big mistake after learning its meaning.

Inkings have had a surge in popularity in recent years and there are millions of designs to choose from, and they can be minimal or intricate.

However, with the surge have come more tattoo mishaps.

A woman recently went viral after getting a matching tattoo with her friend as it ended up looking suspiciously phallic.

While an influencer was left in tears after her ‘dream’ inking went terribly wrong.

And now a woman has discovered that her tattoo has a rather rude meaning – but she’s not the only one to have the inking.

A social media user shared their upside-down pineapple online and revealed that the fruit design is not as innocent as it seems.

“When you know, you know,” the post was captioned.

Taking to the comments, one person wrote: “And here I’ve been for the last 10 years wearing a pineapple dress to work and teaching young kids. No idea it meant this! I’m horrified. (No disrespect, just not my cup of tea!)”

Although this person may have intentionally gotten the design, this wasn’t the case for Brittany Lewin.

In a TikTok video, she revealed that she had a conversation with a friend, who advised her to research the upside-down pineapple symbol.

After Lewin did, she was left feeling pretty embarrassed.

The chat started with her friend asking: “Is that an upside-down pineapple?”

In response, Lewin said: “Hahaha, not when my arm is down.”

Alongside a ton of laughing emojis, her friend replied: “It’s still gonna make me giggle. I only just found out what an upside-down pineapple tattoo actually means.”

Confused, Lewin asked: “Wait, what??? Googling, haha.”

People have taken to the comments and told Lewin she should ’embrace’ the symbol.

One TikToker writes: “Hahaha, love this.”

“Just turn it into Spongebob’s house and add some sea shells,” another jokes.

A third enthuses: “Just embrace it!”

Text on Lewin’s video reads: “BESTIES!!! I post stories daily with my arm like…,” while the post itself is captioned: “I’ve made a mistake besties.”

For those not in the know, an upside-down pineapple can symbolise a person who is a swinger or is looking for a swinger party.

Swinging, which is sometimes called partner-swapping, is a s**ual activity which involves both singles and partners engaging s**ually with one another for recreational purposes.

Hilariously, Lewin had no idea about this and simply got the triangle as it’s her lucky symbol and the pineapple to symbolise she’s a ‘boss babe’.

I guess the lesson to learn is to always do your research!
