Holly Willoughby, who recently announced a career change, has revealed that she ‘battled’ a ‘secret turmoil’ for years.

In her new book, titled ‘Reflections,’ the TV presenter has claimed that the need to be ‘perfect’ has led to her feeling ‘detached’ at times.

She penned: “I wasn’t present in my life. Something was missing. There were moments when I felt a bit like a spectator of my own life.

“I wasn’t sad, I wasn’t depressed, it was just a feeling of being a little adrift.”

The star explained that she learned how to ‘detach’ herself at school, as it helped ‘mask her dyslexia’.

The 40-year-old remarked: “Without even really noticing it, I was using detachment as a way of coping.”

Willoughby reportedly also wrote about her fear of cancel culture, and how in certain situations, she feels she has lost her voice.

She said: “I find myself almost regurgitating what other people have said because I don’t know what I want to say any more.”

Willoughby explained that this is what led to her overhauling her management and creating her own firm, called Roxy.

She said: “I hadn’t realised I’d lost a part of me when I gave up responsibility to someone else, but now I am regaining that.”

Elsewhere in the book, Willoughy is believed to have admitted that spending time away from her husband Dan and three children Harry, Belle and Chester, leaves her suffering from ‘mum guilt’.

She wrote: “I worry about what people think, and for a long time I adapted the way I behaved to limit the guilt that I felt.”
