I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here viewers have slammed Arlene Phillips over an ‘insensitive’ comment she made on the show.

During her VT, the former Strictly Come Dancing judge said: “I cannot live with dirt.

“I am completely OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) about everything in my life being organised, clean, neat and tidy.”

Although the comment seemed innocent enough to most people, some criticised the star for being so ‘flippant’ about OCD.

Over on Twitter, one viewer penned: “Someone really needs to teach Arlene Phillips what OCD really is. It’s a serious condition and shouldn’t be branded as a joke #ImACeleb.”

Another added: “Arlene Phillips, educate yourself about OCD – it’s a devastating illness, not a quirk about being tidy!”

“Arlene Phillips just casually using OCD as an adjective on #ImACeleb,” a third remarked. “Great start to the season.”

A fourth said: “Thought that @ITV would be more understanding and empathetic about mental health – they should never have allowed Arlene Phillips to make such an insensitive comment about OCD.

“As a sufferer, something like this has really upset me watching it! And it’s only 2 minutes in!”

According to the NHS website, OCD is a common mental health condition that can lead a person to experience obsessive and distressing thoughts and act out compulsive behaviours.

It’s believed that the 78-year-old has never publically spoken out about being diagnosed with OCD prior to her appearance on I’m A Celeb.

Phillips isn’t the only reason people are not happy about the ITV programme.

Recently, the animal rights advocacy group, PETA, blasted it for ‘harming’ animals. They are now urging viewers to ‘boycott’ it.
