A woman has gone viral on TikTok with her ‘budget $500 wedding day’.
Kiara Brokenbrought told Good Morning America that she decided to keep her special day as low cost as possible in order to not start her marriage to her partner Joel in debt.
She told the news outlet: “Our goal was to just be as minimal as possible and to spend the least amount of money as possible.”

To make it as affordable as possible, Brokenbrought said the couple decided to get married on a California freeway as it would be free. Apparently, guests were told that when it came to the reception, they’d be expected to pay for their own food and drinks.
The newlywed bride continued: “You have a wedding, with witnesses there to witness you, vowing to your spouse, vowing to God that you guys are going to stay together for life.
“And then you celebrate with food, drinks and dance. And that’s exactly what we did.
“The people we have there, they understood the assignment, they understood the things that we were trying to do, and they really supported us.”
Brokenbrought went on to advise others who want to have a budget wedding day that they should really think about the location and it being as attractive as possible, which means there’s less need for fancy decorations.

Over on TikTok, the woman responded to a comment in which they said her affordable day couldn’t have possibly included her stunning white wedding dress.
In response, she shared a screenshot from the website fashion brand Shein, where she purchased the gown from.
Brokenbrought simply commented: “My dress was $47.”
