Squid Game star O Yeong-su has been indicted on charges of indecent assault.
The show revolves around a contest where 456 players risk their lives to play a series of deadly children’s games for the chance to win a prize of ₩45.6billion ($35 million).
Squid Game also won many awards, including a Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe Award for O. This made him the first Korean actor to win a Golden Globe Award.
However, the 78-year-old actor is now facing some troubling accusations.

O is alleged to have inappropriately touched the body of a woman in 2017.
As reported by Korea JoongAng Daily, the actor has been ‘indicted on charges of s**ual misconduct’ without detention.
The alleged victim filed a complaint against O in December 2021.
The police closed the case in April but it was reopened after the alleged victim asked for it to be investigated further, Variety reports.

O denies the accusations against him.
In a statement made by the actor through Korean broadcaster JTBC, he explained: “I just held her hand to guide the way around the lake.
“I apologised because [the person] said she wouldn’t make a fuss about it but it doesn’t mean that I admit the charges.”
However, the AFP news agency quoted a Suwon court official as saying that ‘everything reported by local media is not factually correct’.
The agency added that the Korean ministry of culture recently pulled a government TV commercial featuring the actor off the air.
O began acting in 1967 but his appearance in Squid Game introduced him to a worldwide audience.
In the show, he played Oh Il-nam, the old man who wore the 001 jumpsuit, who was later revealed to be the brains behind the competition.
His character dies at the end of the first season.
However, Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk suggested he might appear in the second season of the show.

Although, this could now be dependent on the result of O’s trial.
While a new series of Squid Game has been announced, details about the plot are minimal.
Fans can expect the show to arrive at the of 2023 or 2024, with Hwang cryptically teasing: “Humanity is going to be put to a test through those games once again.”
Speaking of the new series, Hwang said: “There’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season.
“So I almost feel like you leave us no choice!”
Prior to Squid Game O’s best-known film role was as the old monk in Kim Ki-duk’s Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter… and Spring.
