A man has been slammed over his ‘cruel’ method to stop people from walking on his lawn.
Sure, it can be pretty annoying when a kid runs across your garden to retrieve his or her ball, or a postie takes a shortcut to the letterbox.
But most people can deal with such a minor inconvenience without having to take measures to prevent it.
Well, one man has irked people on social media by explaining how he’s stopping people from entering his garden.

Thomas Lyons, who posts on TikTok under the username @tgunz81, uploaded a video showing people walking across his grass.
However, each time someone did, they got a shock when a sprinkler activated and soaked them as a punishment for their trespassing.
In a second post, the TikToker explains that an alarm also sounds at the same time as the sprinkler goes off – warning people not to walk on his grass.

Lyons’ initial video has been viewed nearly 40 million times, while two more clips have amassed a further 3.6 million views.
It’s fair to say viewers are divided on the unique and, let’s face it, pretty harsh anti-trespass method.
Some are saying he’s ‘mean’, while others say he’s entitled to use his property however he likes.

One person writes: “You’re all mad for no reason. This is their yard. Walking on it can kill the grass and there are sidewalks for a reason.”
Another user disagrees, commenting: “Cutting across grass has saved me from missing my bus many times.
“People cut because it is always faster and even 30 seconds can make a difference.”
A third viewer says: “I love this level of pettiness. It’s your lawn, so do as you wish.”
While someone else writes: “It’s just kids walking home from school.”
Many viewers, though, are more dismayed by how ‘rude’ it us for people to walk on his grass in the first place.

One person pens: “I don’t understand. I was raised to never walk in someone’s yard, especially a stranger’s.”
“I have always felt like it was disrespectful to walk on people’s grass,” says a second.
Another adds: “I was raised to never walk on people’s lawns. How are these kids just casually doing that?”
Defending the TikToker, somebody else comments: “The people saying ‘it’s just grass’ have never owned property and it shows.”
