A three-year-old girl left her parents speechless after claiming to have ‘spoken to Jesus’ in a near-death experience.

Brittani Tomic, from Ohio, was woken up in the middle of the night when her daughter, Zola, entered her bedroom with her mouth bleeding.

The child had recently had her tonsils removed, so Tomic rang 911 and took her daughter to the hospital.

However, things soon took a drastic turn.

In an interview with Inside Edition, Tomic shared that the ‘panic didn’t set in’ until her daughter was rushed into surgery.

The operation came after Zola had been experiencing seizures since the age of two. Initially, doctors suspected it could be sleep apnea.

Sleep apnea is a breathing disorder that causes repeated lapses in breathing during sleep.

So the child was referred to a specialist for head and neck conditions and this is when Zola’s parents were informed their child would need to undergo surgery due to her enlarged tonsils posing a potential obstruction to her breathing.

“We were confident. We felt like this was going to be the end of all of her seizures and the medical issues. This is going to be the surgery to fix everything,” Tomic said.

But just over a week later, Zola once again entered her parents’ room with her mouth bleeding.

The three-year-old would end up needing a blood transfusion, a procedure that ultimately saved her life.

Following the transfusion, doctors were able to diagnose Zola with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a rare condition that causes very flexible joints and stretchy, fragile skin, as per the NHS website.

There is no cure for Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, however, there are ways for patients to manage the disease, such as physical therapy and counselling.

Tomic explained: “They bruise easy. It’s a lot of pain, a lot of fatigue.

“What I tell people is that the condition itself is not life-threatening, but it has a lot of life-threatening complications.”

Months after the incident, Tomic would learn what her daughter had experienced on the night she had almost died.

“It’s something even to this day that I still can’t even comprehend,” the mum recalled. “I was getting her ready and, it wasn’t even like we were talking about anything God-related beforehand, we were just getting ready to go to gymnastics.

“And she just asked, ‘When can I see God again?'”

Tomic would go on to ask her daughter when she had seen this heavenly figure and the three-year-old replied: “Oh, the night I died.”

The little girl then disclosed that God had given her ‘a hug’ and that she continued to have conversations with him.

“The thing is, she never flat-lined when she was in the hospital,” said Tomic.

“[It] really was just, I guess, a near-death experience she might’ve had, or he came to her to calm her and stay with her.”

Zola would then go on to claim that she had also spoken with not just God but his son too.

Her mum recalled: “And that’s when she said that it looked like a rainbow and Jesus thanked her for being his friend and for loving him. And I just can’t explain it. I’m just so grateful she’s still here.”

Following the three-year-old’s experience, Tomic and her family have started going back to church.
