Jeff Bezos says there’s an ideal amount of sleep you need in order to be successful.
Bezos, 58, is an American multi-billionaire who is the founder and executive chairman of Amazon.
The former world’s richest man recently made headlines after saying he plans to give away most of his $124 billion fortune.
The Blue Origin founder believes one of the most important things about being a good businessman is sleep – and he’s shared how much you should be having.

Bezos attended the Economic Club of Washington back in 2018 and during a discussion, he revealed that he sleeps ‘eight hours’ each night.
He said: “I get eight hours of sleep a night.
“I prioritise it. For me, I need eight hours of sleep. I think better. I have more energy. My mood is better. All these things.”
He added: “And think about it; as a senior executive, what do you really get paid to do?
“As a senior executive, you get paid to make a small number of high-quality decisions.
“If I make like three good decisions a day, that’s enough.
“And they should be just as high quality as I can make them.”
He then jibed at fellow billionaire businessman Warren Buffett, 92, saying: “Warren Buffett says he’s good if he makes three good decisions a year!”

Bezos also explained why he believes eight hours of sleep is essential to boosting productivity and making high-quality decisions.
He continued: “So let’s go crazy and say I slept four hours a day.
“I’d get four so-called productive hours back.
“So before I had, say, 12 hours of productive time during any waking day, now all of a sudden I have 12 plus four – I have 16 productive hours.”

Bezos explained that this gives him 33 per cent more time to make decisions, or that if he was to make 100 decisions, he would then have time to make 33 more.
He remarked: “But is that really worth it if the quality of those decisions might be lower because you’re tired or grouchy or any number of things? Probably not.”

Since stepping down as CEO in 2021, Bezos reportedly now only holds around 11 per cent of Amazon shares, having sold an estimated $27 billion worth since 1997, as per Forbes.
